We designed this pack for us. We wanted a pack that looked great, was ultra lightweight, could be worn anywhere and be used for anything. With minimalist design principles and a combination of high-grade modern and heritage materials, the Universal Pack was born. We love it and we think you will too.
What is it great for?
Virtually everything, it’s called the universal pack for a reason.
What is it not so great for?
If we are being completely honest we probably wouldn’t take this pack as our only bag for a week of wilderness fly fishing, but team it with a backpack and you are good to go!
Your Packs Journey
The waxed canvas comes from Scotland.
The lining and other fitments are sourced from companies across the U.K. and abroad.
This all eventually ends up in the hands of Amy, our fantastic seamstress and bag maker, in Newmarket, England. She works her magic to produce your Universal Pack.
How to look after your pack
One of the special things about the waxed canvas fabric is how it ages. Over time it develops a beautiful patina. To ensure its kept at its water repellent best, we suggest you reproof your pack once every one to two years depending on use. We recommend that you use our reproofing wax. You can buy it here.
A real pleasure to do business with Bear. Excellent service from a young company that appears to want to establish a long term personal relationship with their customers. Add this to a quality British hand made product clearly designed by experienced fly fishers and I suspect Bear has found a winning combination.
From unboxing (incl. personal letter) to first use and customer support I can report a top-notch experience. Loving brand and products all around!
As soon as I saw this bag I knew I needed one , and I’m glad I got one. It’s an ideal bag for the river angler , it’s small simple and effective for catching as much fish as possible. The Velcro patch for holding a fly box is what appealed to me the most, it’s now much faster to change a fly when you need to with this feature, it offers a hands free approach and saves time taking fly boxes in and out of bags or rummaging through them. Time is everything in fishing especially in competition angling so this is why I would highly recommend this product.
